Created GCSI in 1864 for leading the Kapurthala forces at Jalandhar and in Awadh in 1857–58. He died on 2 April 1870 aboard the SS Golconda off Aden, sailing for England, and was cremated at Nashik. His daughters by his third wife, Henrietta Hodges, open a branch the old charts leave out entirely.
