Generation VIII
General Sardar Rattan Singh
ਜਨਰਲ ਸਰਦਾਰ ਰਤਨ ਸਿੰਘ
of Behra · General of the Ahluwalia Misl (Riyasat Kapurthala)
The founder of the Behra line at Fatehabad. A General of the Ahluwalia Misl — the forces of Riyasat Kapurthala, the army that rode beside Maharaja Ranjit Singh in the campaigns of the age — and head of a jagir of forty-three villages seated at Fatehabad on the Beas. He married the daughter of Nawab Bhag Singh about 1812, and when Fateh Singh moved the capital to Kapurthala, Fatehabad was entrusted to him. His haveli still stands in the town: 250 years old, converted into a court by his great-grandson Basant Singh, and in 2006 the home of Sardar Charanjit Singh.

Note
The particular campaigns of his service remain to be traced. The family record confirms the rank; no published account of his battles has been found.
Conflict
The Tribune feature of 2006 once names Charanjit Singh a descendant of “General Attar Singh” where the rest of the same piece says Rattan Singh.
Conflict
The Persian patta of twenty-two villages, opening “Akal Sahai,” is dated 1812 over Bhag Singh’s signature though he died in 1801. The grant may rather be Fateh Singh’s, or the date a copyist’s. The original deed, in the family’s keeping, is the check — and would be a document of the first importance.
